The Big Shift Begins

Anne’s body finally started the big fluid shift/correction, the internal edema is down and she is feeling much better. Her appetite is coming back rapidly; this morning she said what she really wanted is a meat and cheese type pastry. So I jogged down to the Pike Place Market, got some pastries from her favorite bakery and ran them back up the hill. The picture shows Anne this evening.

An additional sign of her improvement; for the past 4 years, Anne feels O.K. for a couple hours after she gets done with dialysis, first thing in the morning. Then she would feel increasingly sick until the next treatment. Sitting after breakfast, she got this wonderful smile on her face – the oh-so-familiar ‘sick’ wasn’t happening. Thank you Lord for the wonder of a working kidney.

We’ve decided that rather than my going back to Bellingham next week, I would just stay here and finish this experience from front to back.

Uncle Mark, Aunt Anne - I have been following this blog with great joy and concern. I was so happy to hear that a transplant FINALLY happened, and felt mounting relief with every passing entry. Lord keep you both whatever may come in this process - I am so happy to be looped it.
